This competition saw a record turn out of 13 pairs, with several of the Club's juniors taking part.  Gerald and Liam proved a strong pairing and did not lose all afternoon.  They beat Ian & Matthew in the final who just ran out of steam at the end.  Thanks to everyone who turned out though for a great afternoons bowling.

Once again the Club was very lucky with the weather.  Ritchie and Winnie just won what was a very close and tense final against Chris and John.  Four of our juniors had a small competition alongside the adults and Ryan just beat Tom in the final.

A damp days bowling, but we avoided the worst of the rain.  Jack picked up his second trophy of the year and was well supported by Angela, who has had an outstanding season so far.  As always the presence and support of Elsie was much appreciated, and she just managed to stay warm enough to present the trophy at the end of the competition.

We were blessed with the weather and a great afternoon's bowling.  Three groups of four pairs battled it out with the winners of the groups (Ian & Matthew Gill, Tommy Copeland & Adam May, and Jack Sargeant & David Wrotniak [Rocky]) being joined by the best runners-up (Brian Carr & Sarah Gill) in the semi finals.  In a close game Adam & Tommy overcame Brian & Sarah 7-6, and Jack & Rocky had an easier game, beating Ian & Matt 7-1.  The final was a one-sided affair with Jack & Rocky running out easy winners 7-0.  Everyone had a great time though, especially some of our junior members (Matthew, Emma, Tom & Jack) who did really well against their adult opponents.  Some more shots of the action are set out below - click on the thumbnails to see a larger shot.

The weather was perfect for bowling and with even pairs chosen there were some close games.  It was Ritchie and Joe though who showed the best form to win their two group game and then to convincingly beat Jack and Winnie in the final.  The third place game was close with Ian and Sandra coming from behind to just pip Peter and Jean. 

A shame more Members didn't turn up for what was a great afternoon's bowling.  The rain largely held off, and it was Ian and Claire won all their matches to take the newly named Chairman's Cup, and this allowed Ian to retrieve some of his sponsor money!  The trophy was presented by Diane. This could be the first trophy of many for Claire who bowled well all afternoon.  Close competition came from Geoff and Steve who were runners-up.  Brian stepped manfully up to partner Angela and make up a pair, despite not being in the fittest of health at present.

Yet again we were lucky with the weather for the third time this year.  Numbers were a bit down on the previous two cup competitions but all those who did turn out enjoyed a fine afternoons bowling.  Bert coaxed his inexperienced partner through to the trophy, just pipping Ian & John who finished a close second.

A beautiful day for crown green bowling saw Bert and Geoff romp away with the title.  Elsie Ashcroft presented the trophy.  Runners up were Peter and Steve who put up a fine performance.  Some shots from the day are set out below - click on a picture to enlarge it.

This Competition was held on a lovely summers day on a bone dry and extremely fast green - almost as many bowls went into the gutter as stayed on the green.  In fact green is perhaps the wrong term as it was more brown than green.  It was always going to be a tough competition and in a very close final Ian and Di just ran out 11-9 winners over John and Paul.  You may wonder why they are in fact holding the John Wright Trophy in the photos - this is due to Peter having gone on holiday and we couldn't get the President's Trophy back!

A great afternoon's bowling with a very close finish saw Bert and John walk off with the John Wright Trophy.  The Cup was presented by Dave Hulse.  Brian and Winnie were just pipped at the post, with everything hinging on the last two games.

Elsie was overjoyed at finally winning the Roy Ashcroft Trophy.  A fine afternoon's bowling saw Brian and Ken coming in as runners-up.

Ian & Sarah proved to be the dream team, as they remained undefeated to take the Roy Ashcroft Memorial Trophy.  Steve and Elsie were worthy runners-up.  Elsie Ashcroft and Brian Carr presented the Trophy to the winners and runners-up.  Despite heavy downpours in the morning, and the fact that numbers were down due to the Bank Holiday, those that turned up enjoyed a good afternoons bowling and the sun even came out - a rare event recently!!  Further pictures are on the News Pages.

Unfortunately the President (Jack) couldn't be present, but we had good weather and a fine days bowling.  Joe Leahy picked up his first ever bowling trophy and everyone agreed that Angela bowled superbly all afternoon.  Bert and Ritchie came a close second.  See the News pages for further pictures from the day.

Brian Carr presents the prizemoney for winning the President's Cup to Bert Traverse and Jackie Mercer (the actual Cup not having been brought along by mistake!). Jackie's first ever bowling trophy will now take pride of place on her telly, and there is still some left for Peter's first trophy....when it eventually arrives!

The runners-up trophy was also Steve's first, possibly the first of many?
