A depleted Windy Millers squad, helped by Ciaran’s dad at the last minute, performed well, with some close scores.  Success for John, who is on a roll – having now won 5 on the trot in all matches.  Ken had a good match, finally breaking his duck to win, hopefully the start of good things.  However Ken was unable to take the kitty on his winning debut as once again Paul took the honours with an impressive performance.

The first 4 braved the torrential downpour but only Mr Pike kept a grip on his bowls.  Brilliant kitty win for Geoff who has improved steadily this season and a decent score for Ken who is also making good progress. The new bowlers need to remember though that it is only bowls….its not like it is important like football….so no need to get upset with your score, we expect everything from you between 0 and 21!!

First away win of the season!!!  Brilliant team performance to take 9 points (aggregate by the skin of our teeth) We usually play 3 games to gain that many points. Fine first win for Bert – not before time he said and with 8 games still to play we can lift ourselves off the bottom of the table if we keep bowling like we ( most of the team ) did last night.

We all thought Angela was on her way to her first win of the season when she battled from behind to draw level at 20 across but unfortunately it was not to be…she was the highest loser until the last 2 blocks provided the only 2 points for the Windy bowlers. Unfortunately we have to play this top of the league team again on Friday in a match rearranged from early in the season……perhaps they are not so hot on their own green??

Excellent win for Claire against one of the Villages best bowlers, Winnie unfortunately drew Mo on form on his own green and we all know he does not give much away. New player Ken had a really good game and Ciaran, who has come through the junior bowls showed that he has the makings of an excellent bowler and both newcomers will be a real asset to the team.

First visit to Timms Lane where we found a welcoming atmosphere and a very fast green which got the better of most of the team. John stormed through his game to take the kitty and Paul 1 and 2 gave their usual fine performance.  The bowler drafted in to strengthen the team found himself 15 – 6 down in the blink of an eye but put up a good fight to go 18 – 17 ahead, only to blow it at the end…..knew I should have asked Geoff to come!! (Cheers - Ed)

A great result for the Windy was had for the Monday night team with the first win of the season, in fact it felt like a league victory. Superb performances from Claire (whose first ever win should not go without mention), Jimmy, Paul Miller (not Makin as his performance leaves a lot to be desired) & Geoff but not forgetting the Predator himself Pikey !!!!!! Let's hope we can keep the good form going for the rest of the season.

Luv Makin came good at the climax of this match to take the kitty for the second time in a row under the new floodlights.  His head was getting so big that he kept nearly bumping it on the roof of the shelter.  Geoff made a good debut on a difficult bumpy green.  Left cursing was Claire, who had a great chance to make her first win.  However, as soon as the Pike took over her card her fate was sealed!

Not the start to the season that we were hoping for with only 3 points at our first home game.  Diane and John really should have won as they were way ahead of their opponents but seem to have lost the killer instinct over the Winter break and poor sportsmanship for a certain Alan Roberts did little for our hope of the aggregate. First game is always difficult due to lack of practice but everyone tried really hard against a strong away team.
